Newport Harbor Light

Newport Harbor Light-Model

The Light

This lighthouse was built in 1824, standing at 35ft tall, but then was replaced in 1842 and automated in 1963. Originally it used a 4th Order Fresnel Lens, but now it uses a 250 mm lens. Newport Harbor Light is located at the Northern end of Goat Island in Newport Harbor. Unfortunately, in 1921, a submarine took out the breakwater that the original Keeper's house was on, resulting in the house had to be torn down. While the lighthouse is not assessible to the public, the hotel grounds still are.
