Description

This building was constructed in 1898 to house the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper and his family. The three rooms on the 1*‘ floor comprised the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The 2nd floor consists of 3 bedrooms a toilet and a single closet.

Prior to 1972, this building was used by U.S. Coast Guard personnel and earlier by U.S. Lighthouse Service and U.S. Lighthouse Establishment personnel as a residence.

The carved staircase finial on the bottom of the stairs was created and installed by BLMA Member Jack Willis From 1993 to 2012, BLMA operated this museum in the three first-floor rooms.

The 2nd floor of this Assistant Keepers House is presently used for the storage of museum-related signs, brochures, documents, records, file cabinets, and office equipment.
